Is she messing around with me?

I like this girl I work with, and she knows that. We’ve been out a couple times and kissed before. I know somewhere inside her she has feelings for me. But whenever i try to take it further she says she isnt over her ex yet, and just sees me more as a friend.
I had sort of brought myself to accept that she doesnt feel the same about me, but shes really flirty with me. and the more we would talk and joke around, the more I continued to like her. It’s been back and forth, on and off a couple of times and every time I tell myself that I won’t cave in. That i can ignore her. I told her that though i care about her, it’s easier for me if we just limit the contact, and she stops flirting with me. And she always says ok I promise I wont. The other day it happened again and I made it serious that she HAD to stop because it wasnt fair to me.
Then tonight, I caved of course, texted her wishing her a happy thanksgiving and saying some other stuff. I got a bunch of happy texts with smiley faces back from her. And I just don’t know what to do I KNOW that she has feelings for me, but I don’t know how to make them a reality. Why is she sending me the smiley texts (like 6 of them)? And how do I get this to the next level?

Stay away from her. You’re already too attached to her. Just cut contact with her before you get REALLY hurt. Trust me, it’s no fun. And maybe if you start dating other people, she’ll come around, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Really, all girls, no matter how great you think they are, CRAVE attention. She just wants attention, because she knows you like her a lot. If you really feel that strongly though, dont give up!

Oh, wow, it DOES sound like she’s messing around with you. OR she might not be completely over her ex and scared to get into another relationship. You could try moving on and see how she reacts.
